Nico is a seasoned executive with extensive experience in the mining and metals industry. Having joined SGR in June 2024, Nico is responsible for overseeing the Company's strategic financial planning, risk management, and operational reengineering efforts. His role includes driving financial performance, optimising capital structure, and ensuring robust financial controls to support SGR's growth and sustainability objectives.

During his 20-year career, Nico has worked in multiple countries in Africa, including Ghana, South Africa and the Democratic Republic of the Congo for large, multi-national mining majors, amongst them AngloGold Ashanti, Gold Fields and Endeavour Mining. His career is marked by strategic leadership roles and a track record of driving operational excellence and financial growth in challenging environments.

In his previous role as Managing Director of Chemaf Resources, Nico was instrumental in securing major project financing. By implementing major turnaround strategies with record production, he set the stage for sustainable operations, elevating the Company’s operations to international standards through the implementation of ISO, SAP, and SHREQ business procedures.

Nico holds a Master of Business Leadership (MBL) from the Unisa Graduate School of Business in South Africa.
